I’ve been excited about the 6 Music Festival since I first heard about it. That excitement further increased when I managed to get my hands on a ticket for the Saturday. An excellent lineup, sheltered from the elements and at Victoria Warehouse, close to my house. I arrive early and queue to get in to ensure I don’t miss anything.

Frank Turner, Flogging Molly and Beans On Toast

It’s been a long while since I’ve been to the arena in Manchester, the last time I was here it was still the MEN arena. Now going under the name the Phones4u arena it is much the same. Frank Turner is the man who’s got me back in this enormous place and I get down early to see his tour support acts Beans On Toast and Flogging Molly.

Samantha Crain, Cornelius Crane and Charlotte Hackett

I’ve been enjoying Samantha Crain‘s recent album ‘Kid Face’, so I was heading to the show looking forward to seeing how the songs would translate to a live environment. En route to the Ruby Lounge I thought I was going to be watching two performances, one from Samantha and support from Cornelius Crane. Imagine my surprise when a face I was not expecting appeared on the stage shortly after my arrival. This addition to the lineup was Charlotte Hackett, a local singer-songwriter who I later learned is still only 14 years old.

Felix Hagan & The Family

Only one week ago I had never heard of Felix Hagan & The Family, but over the past few days I’ve been on something of a whirlwind romance. Thanks to bandcamp I’ve been able to enjoy both the 2011 album Dawn Breaks, The Monster Wakes​.​.​. and the more recent EP String Up The Entertainer multiple times already. After days of waiting, finally Saturday arrives and I get my chance to experience the band live.
